FAQs
Answers to the questions I hear most.
Do you take insurance?+
No. Exuvia is a private-pay practice. Not billing insurance keeps your care confidential (no mental health diagnosis on file with a third party) and lets us shape treatment around your goals rather than a coverage plan. On request I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Are sessions in person?+
No — all sessions are virtual, over a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform. Virtual work is particularly good for couples: no commute, easier scheduling, and partners can join from wherever they are.
What states are you licensed in?+
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Delaware, Maine, and Alaska. I can only provide psychotherapy to residents of these states. For everyone else, I offer relationship coaching.
What's the difference between therapy and coaching?+
Therapy diagnoses and treats mental health conditions and is regulated by state licensure. Coaching is a forward-looking, goal-oriented service focused on growth, skills, and relationship dynamics — it does not diagnose or treat clinical conditions.
Do you offer a consultation?+
Yes. Every new client starts with a brief video consultation. It's a chance for you to ask questions, for me to hear what's bringing you in, and for both of us to see whether it feels like a fit before scheduling a full intake.
How long does couples therapy take?+
It varies. Simpler concerns often move in 3–6 months. Infidelity recovery and long-standing patterns usually take longer. We'll talk about pacing and duration together, and reassess as we go.
Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients and non-monogamous relationships?+
Yes — sex-positive, kink-aware, and experienced with ethical non-monogamy in its various forms.
Ready to start the conversation?
Initial consultations are a brief, no-pressure video call to see whether we're the right fit.
